Calls for investment in Central Highlands to strengthen socioeconomic development
High-tech agriculture is seen as the most attractive industry in the Central Highlands for local and foreign investors.
The government's action programme to implement Resolution No.23-NQ/TW on the direction of socioeconomic development and national defence in the Central Highlands will see some new breakthroughs, as stated by Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong before the conference on the announcement of the action plan that will take place on November 20.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) was assigned by the government to coordinate with ministries, sectors, and localities to organise a conference to announce the government's action plan on implementing the resolution from the Politburo dated October 6.
Deputy minister Dong emphasised that the conference is vital for the development of the region and will open up new opportunities.
"With the theme Green - Harmonious - Sustainable Development, the conference will be held in Da Lat city under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and receive about 500 delegates," said Dong.
He added that this is a three-in-one conference, not only announcing the government's action plan on implementing Resolution No.23-NQ/TW but also calling for the attention of investors, domestic and international business associations, and development partners to accompany the government in implementing important investment programmes and projects for the socioeconomic development of the region.
"The Central Highlands has serious potential and many advantages, especially in terms of climate and soil. However, it is yet to build agricultural brands and gain much added value," highlighted the MPI deputy minister.
On that basis, Resolution No.23-NQ-TW focuses on developing hi-tech agriculture in the Central Highlands and is also an opportunity to attract domestic and foreign investors to large-scale agricultural projects, apply technology, and build some brands.
Additionally, the Central Highlands has great potential for renewable energy, particularly solar and wind energy and bauxite mining.
"We can attract investors in the field of high-quality aluminium processing, sustainable bauxite exploitation, and environmental protection. Medicinal herbs are also a promising area for investors because the soil here is so rich, especially under the forest canopy," emphasised Dong.

To implement the resolution, the government plans to propose seven groups of key tasks including promoting and forming a consensus on building action plans, developing fast and sustainable regional economic development, boosting human resources, and improving the material and spiritual lives of the people.
In addition, the government's action programme has also set out 23 specific tasks and nine transport projects that will be assigned to ministries and agencies to implement.
At the upcoming conference, a ceremony to award a cooperation agreement on sustainable development in the Central Highlands between the MPI and development partners, as well as MoU and investment registration certificates for investors will also take place, allowing millions of dollars to be poured in the region soon.
