EuroCham helps promote sustainable economic, trade development in Viet Nam

The MoU paves the way for both sides to carry out trade and investment promotion activities, support enterprises and enhance economic and trade ties in the time ahead.

According to the statistics of the General Department of Customs, during the 12-month implementation of the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) from August 1, 2021 to July 2022, trade between Viet Nam and the EU hit US$61.4 billion, up 11.9 percent. 

In the first seven months of 2022, the EU spent €27.9 billion on imports from Viet Nam, a year-on-year increase of 28.8 percent while the bloc's exports to the nation grew by 10.7 percent, reaching €6.9 billion. 

The EU is currently the fifth largest investor in Viet Nam with the total registered capital worth US$27.6 billion. 

In the first eight months of 2022, investors from the EU poured US$2.2 billion in 104 projects in the Southeast Asian nation. 

Also at the event, EuroCham Chairman Alain Cany announced that the EuroCham will host the "Green Economy Forum & Exhibition (GEFE) 2022" from November 28 to 30 in Ho Chi Minh City. 

The event's primary objective is to support Viet Nam in achieving its COP26 commitments and the socio-economic development goals specified in its National Green Growth Strategy for 2021-2030.
