Viet Nam calls for more investment in green growth
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha called on foreign businesses to boost investment, support Viet Nam in green growth, and well implement international commitments on sustainable development and climate change, including UNCOP26 commitments to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Tran made the call at a dialogue session with leaders of foreign businesses and investment funds on digital transformation, innovative start-ups, green finance and sustainable development within the framework of the 53rd World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland on January 16 (local time).
The dialogue also drew the attendance of Mr. Philipp Rosler, former Deputy Chancellor of Germany, Honorary Consul of Viet Nam in Switzerland.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that Viet Nam has actively implemented a plan to amend and supplement the legal framework in order to mobilize resources for green transition, energy transition, transition to a circular economy and low carbon economy.
The foreign bussiness leaders expressed their strong impression of Viet Nam’s commitment to net-zero emissions made at UNCOP26 as well as tthe country's efforts to accelerate negotiations regarding the establishment of the Just Energy Transition Partnership, as well as their wish to to accompany the Vietnamese Government in the process./.
