Guangxi province a key importer of Vietnamese farm produce
Over 90% of Vietnamese agricultural produce exported to China is shipped to border province.
China’s Guangxi province receives more than 90 per cent of Vietnamese agricultural products exported to the northern neighbor, a recent conference in the northern border province of Lang Son on seeking measures to facilitate agro-aquatic product trade between the two countries heard.
Trade between Guangxi and Vietnam hit $29.2 billion last year, accounting for 95 per cent of total border trade between the two countries.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan suggested that authorized agencies in Guangxi and border localities in Vietnam continue coordinating to further promote the bilateral trade of farm produce and food.
Vietnam has long been the largest trade partner of China in ASEAN and is the sixth-largest worldwide. China, meanwhile, is Vietnam’s largest trade partner and biggest export market.
Trade revenue for agriculture, forestry, and fisheries products between the two countries last year reached $14.2 billion, up 12.7 per cent year-on-year, including $10.4 billion worth of Vietnamese exports.
