Thu Duc city proposes construction of more transport routes
Rapid development pace in city within HCMC requires more transport links.
Authorities in Thu Duc city in Ho Chi Minh City have proposed the municipal People’s Committee add new transport projects and implement approved projects, with total investment capital of around VND30.8 trillion ($1.28 billion).
The four routes approved by authorities in Ho Chi Minh City have total investment of VND30 trillion ($1.25 billion).
They include the construction of a 3.5-km section of Ring Road No. 2 connecting Phu Huu Bridge and the Hanoi Highway; a 2.9-km road connecting Binh Thai intersection and Pham Van Dong Highway; a 6-km road linking Go Cong junction with Thu Duc intersection No. 2; and a 6.6-km route connecting Cat Lai Port with Phu Hu Port.
Thu Duc authorities have proposed building a section connecting the D1 route with the Saigon Hi-tech Park and Nguyen Xien Road. It would have a length of 1 km and total investment of over VND750 billion ($31.4 million). Once approved, construction is expected to begin in 2024 and be completed a year later. The project aims to ease overloads in Long Binh and Long Thanh My wards - two urban areas with rapid development and huge populations but with limited transport links.
They also proposed building an additional connection between Thu Duc city and Ring Road No. 3 in Long Binh ward.
Under the construction plan for Ring Road No. 3, there will be three connection points between Thu Duc city and the Ring Road. However, Long Binh ward has a high rate of urbanization that requires transport links to accelerate its development, so Thu Duc city has proposed adding a connection point with the Ring Road in the ward.
Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Phan Van Mai agreed with the proposal from Thu Duc city and asked relevant agencies to study each project.
