ECVN platform supports Vietnamese export businesses
(VEN) - ECVN, a Vietnam export support platform, is paving the way for small and medium enterprises to mine the global e-commerce bonanza. Launched in July 2020, this digital transformation solution for business-to-business e-commerce directly connects Vietnamese exporters to foreign importers.
The first export platform for Vietnamese goods
ECVN establishes cooperative relationships with ministries, sectors, trade departments and associations, trade promotion centers, and domestic and foreign economic organizations.
ECVN has close links with nearly 100 Vietnamese trade offices in foreign markets, international organizations, and foreign embassies in Vietnam to provide the most useful services for its members and assist them in finding partners, business information, market information, promoting enterprises' image abroad and exporting directly to foreign importers.
Nguyen Van Thanh, Director of the E-commerce Development Center (Ecomviet) under the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said ECVN aims to help businesses quickly approach a novel business method. With a social network protocol, information will be transmitted and received quickly, accurately and selectively to help the import-export business community access state support and quickly seize opportunities to promote their business activities.
Opportunity for SMEs to access online trading
Amid the complicated development of the Covid-19 pandemic, the ECVN platform is providing Vietnamese businesses with a more flexible business model to reduce costs and optimize resources.
Digital transformation in import-export business will help enterprises participate directly in international trade activities, saving time, costs and effort. This is also the time for them to realize the superiority of the digital economy and urgent requirements of the digital transformation process. In the past, import and export activities were only conducted by large-scale enterprises with strong financial resources. E-commerce and cross-border e-commerce has opened the door to small and medium or even micro enterprises and provided them with equal opportunities.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has helped entrepreneurs and businesses, especially SMEs, promote cross-border trade via international e-commerce websites such as Amazon and Alibaba. It has also enhanced online trade connections between Vietnamese enterprises and foreign enterprises in China, India, the United States, Singapore, the Netherlands, and Bulgaria.
Pham Tan Dat, General Director of Fado, a Vietnamese pioneer in cross-border e-commerce in Vietnam, said the ECVN 2020 version will support Vietnamese businesses in quick and accurate access to the foreign markets that are opening up under its landmark free trade agreements.
In the past, SMEs often sought foreign partners through fairs and exhibitions and working with trade promotion offices; now they can do so by joining Vietnam’s online export support platforms. Fado has also been supporting Vietnamese SMEs in obtaining online orders from foreign partners through international trading floors.
The ECVN platform also offers solutions to simplify barriers and ease risks of international trade in terms of logistics, payment, finance and legal issues, imbuing Vietnamese exporters with confidence as they shift to direct export.
Apart from the launch of the ECVN platform, Vietnam’s state management bodies are also gradually building a legal corridor to support e-commerce and boost the digital economy.
